Back and neck problems are very common, and often require a series of well-planned assessments and investigations to make an accurate diagnosis.
At “Pain Management”, we work to assist our patients to gain relief from the persistent pain and help them to recover their quality of life as best they are able. We have traditionally used a multimodal approach to pain management, such as intravenous patient-controlled analgesia, opioid medication, benzodiazepines, and oral acetaminophen. We also rely on nonpharmacologic methods such as distraction and cognitive behavioral interventions.
We work with all types of pain conditions, from herniated discs and back and neck pain. We provide surgery options that are minimally invasive as well as dealing with more complicated issues like spinal tumors, scoliosis and spine fractures. Fortunately, most of the spinal issues that we deal with are treatable without requiring surgical intervention.
Our Spine Team will provide the thoughtful spine health care you are searching for. We cover many facets including non-surgical or surgical solutions, bringing all aspects of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation together in one location.
Your recovery from surgery depends on your health and how complicated the surgery was. Your team will make certain that you are well aware of what to expect, following surgery.
Some common medicinal treatment options for neck and back pain include:
• Epidural steroid injections
• Nerve block injections
• Soft tissue injections
• Prescriptions or muscle relaxers
• Topical pain relievers
Some common conservative pain management methods to treat neck and back pain include:
• Chiropractic care
• Yoga
• Physical therapy
• Home exercises
• Acupuncture
• Neck and back massage
There is always some pain following surgery and we strive to minimize it and make you as comfortable as possible, both in the hospital after your surgery and while recovering in your home.
We make a “Patient Controlled Analgesia” available to our patients. The PCA device will allow you to administer small doses of pain medication intravenously as you require it by simply pushing a little button. The PCA unit is designed to control the correct dose of drugs to make certain that you do not ever get too much. It has been discovered that recovery is faster if the pain is managed.
During your time with us, we trust you will experience the orthopaedic difference of excellence in spine and pain care.
