Autism

AutismAutism is a complex developmental disorder that usually shows up within the first three years of life. The brain of an autistic child functions in ways that are still a mystery – one that impacts the “normal” development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills.

Autistic children and adults frequently display challenges with both verbal and non verbal communication and interacting with others in social settings. Autism is displayed in a great variety of ways that vary with each individual.

Our nationally accredited staff members are clinically certified in Speech and Language Pathology and are specialists in working with children who are diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

We perform a complete diagnostic evaluation. Test results and diagnostic evaluations are discussed with the parents in a conference.

We provide rehabilitation through comprehensive and goal directed treatment. Our mission is to help each child achieve their maximum communicative, functional and social potential.

Parents are invited to participate in our individualized and group treatment sessions. The progress of each child is enhanced outside of the clinical environment through home programs with specific instructions.

Visual systems to enhance communication, including Picture Exchange Communication Systems, are used in individual and group treatment sessions.

We are continually evaluating communication skills and goals. Everyone involved in the child’s development is involved in the program.
