Tui Na

4_Tui NaTui Na is the form of Asian bodywork most closely resembling conventional western massage therapy. Many of the techniques are similar — gliding, kneading, friction, pulling, rotation, vibration and shaking.

Tui Na is more than the simple relaxation of a Swedish-style massage, as it aims to correct specific physical difficulties. It is particularly effective for arthritis, sciatica, spasms and tension in the neck or shoulders.

Tui na seeks to influence the flow of energy in the body. It can be used as an adjunct to other Traditional Chinese Medical modalities to correct problems, or used as a preventive to maintain a healthy body and mind.

PatientPatients need to wear loose clothing and remove shoes before laying on a table or floor mat. Firstly, the worker will relax your body and ask which parts of your body are in pain and need the most care in order to provide the best treatment.

Advanced Tuina (Tui Na) practitioners may also use Chinese herbs to facilitate quicker healing. Sessions last anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Some of the most common conditions our Tui na practitioners deal with are:

  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis elbow

Tuina is not relaxing massage but instead is a powerful therapeutic tool for a number of various acute and chronic conditions. All musculoskeletal issues like Lower Back pain, Frozen Shoulder, Carpal Tunnel, Sciatica, RSI…etc can be treated, as well as various internal conditions like digestive, circulatory and respiratory conditions. Tuina is an effective treatment for sports injuries and a perfect massage to facilitate rehabilitation.

All of our experts are trained in Chinese Medicine and so treatment will begin with a more extensive consultation, possibly with tongue and pulse diagnosis. Depending on your conditions this may be relatively short or more extensive. It is important because Tui Na is concerned with understanding your symptoms from an internal and energetic viewpoint.
